It was just so much fun waving and cheering when we met up with familiar groups and friends along the way. I'm not a big fan of the author, but he's well-respected and it's a short book. I don't know why his books fail to attract me. This one is no different in that respect, but I'm not giving up on the author. In his earlier novels, he has written about conspiracy theory, the Cold War and global terrorism. Now, in Point Omega, he looks into the mind and heart of a "defense intellectual," one of the men involved in the management of the country's war machine. I called my buddy and broke the news. We mulled over the options and eventually decided to head south as planned, but we'd go to North Ft. Myers first, to check out trawlers for charter there, do some boating in the area, then head back to Titusville for the Sunday launch. We did leave Tuesday after work, and spent the night in a Daytona motel. At about noon the next day we were walking the docks at the North Ft. The littles have been missing their kittens from home so much, and they were just delighted with the chance to play with some friends' kittens one evening! There were plenty to go around. Mom enjoyed reconnecting with one of her dear friends + mentors from twenty-five years ago! Love these sweet ladies! This family was such a blessing to us. They told us how they came to our concert two years ago and were convicted that they needed to be in ministry as a family. The ministry God laid on their hearts was music. It is Monday.Again. The weekends sure fly by. I have a little fun for this week's CASE Study Challenge. I was inspired to create something I almost never do - a clean, one-layer card. Few of us are without ancestors who had some relationship with railroading. Either they worked for the railroad, traveled by rail, or shipped cattle, timber or grain by rail. Admittedly, the mystique of railroading afflicts some of us more than others.
I attribute my interest to my father, who spent most of his working life as a machinist at the Chicago & Northwestern Railway roundhouse in Chadron, Nebraska.Like many folks, I have driven by the old structure many times without recognizing what it was. Nestled atop Lead next door to the Golden Hills Inn and Convention Center, it’s easy to miss it. Too, it’s a considerably smaller roundhouse than the full turntable roundhouse that served as the economic hub of Chadron for nearly a century. He eventually sold it to Dr. Duane and Phyllis Sander of Brookings. He lives and works in Santa Monica and Venice, California. He takes them out of their original context and rearranges their form, often outlining their shapes including the addition of words or short sentences.
